What to Wear for Beach Family Photos on the Crystal Coast

One of the most common questions I receive as a Crystal Coast family photographer is, "What should we wear for our family photo session?"

Choosing the right clothing can make a huge difference in the overall look of your photos.

Choose Soft Coastal Colors

For beach family photos, I recommend soft neutral tones such as:

  • White

  • Cream

  • Light blue

  • Sage green

  • Soft tan

  • Dusty pink

These colors complement the natural beauty of the Crystal Coast without distracting from your family.

Avoid Matching Exactly

Instead of everyone wearing the same outfit, choose coordinating colors and textures.

The goal is to create a cohesive look while allowing each family member's personality to shine through.

Skip Large Logos and Graphics

Large logos, busy patterns, and bright neon colors can draw attention away from faces and create distractions in photographs.

Dress for Comfort

Children photograph best when they are comfortable. Choose clothing that allows movement and helps everyone feel relaxed.

Consider the Season

Summer sessions on Atlantic Beach and Emerald Isle can be warm, while spring and fall evenings may be cooler near the water.

Layering can help everyone stay comfortable throughout the session.
